Sydney Metro City and Southwest
The Sydney Metro City and Southwest has been designed to cater for future growth and meet the needs of a rapidly growing city. The new metro line will help to relieve congestion on Sydney’s existing rail network and provide a much-needed boost to public transport capacity in Australia’s largest city.
Construction on the Sydney Metro began in earnest in 2012 with Phase 1 of the project, which involved building a new rail line from Tallawong Station in the northwest of Sydney to Chatswood Station in the north shore. Construction on this phase was completed in 2019, and the new metro line is now operational. By 2030, Sydney will have a network of four metro lines, 46 stations and 113km of new metro rail.
Think Systems provided subject matter expertise in systems safety, systems engineering and technology integration to deliver an options feasibility report to Sydney Metro associated with the delivering of Mechanical Gap Fillers on the Sydney City and Southwest program.
